for Saturday, September 13th, 2025 [Previous Reflections]
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.“
— Titus 2:13-14 KJV
Think about it—He didn’t just clean us up on the surface. He redeemed us from all iniquity. That’s heavy. Not some. Not most. All. And He didn’t stop there; He’s purifying a people, making us His own, shaping us into vessels eager to do good works. Isn’t that wild? He isn’t calling us to scrape by in fear, but to live with our eyes set forward—watching, waiting, and burning bright with zeal.
I’ve noticed in my own life, when my focus shifts off that hope, I start clinging to small distractions that never satisfy. But when I remember He’s coming again—the One who gave Himself, not because I deserved it but because love compelled Him—it pulls my heart back into alignment. How could I not want to live for Him, when He already gave everything for me?
Lord Jesus, thank You for the blessed hope of Your return and for giving Yourself to redeem me completely. Purify my heart today. Strip away the things that dull my desire for You. Teach me to live with anticipation, not apathy. Make me zealous for good works—not to earn favor, but because I already have Your love. Keep my eyes fixed on You, my Savior and my God. Amen.
