Reflection on Today's Verse
Your standing with God does not rest on how well you perform, how many rules you keep, or how strong you feel spiritually on a given day. A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ. That means your peace with God is not something you build through effort. It is something you receive through Christ.
This is deeply freeing. On days when you feel consistent, you do not have room to boast. On days when you feel weak, you do not need to despair. Either way, your hope is not in yourself. It is in the finished work of Christ. The law can show guilt, but it cannot give righteousness. Christ gives what the law never could.
So when your heart starts drifting toward self-condemnation or pride, come back to this truth: you are not accepted because of your performance. You are accepted in Christ. That truth gives rest to the weary heart and stability to the troubled mind.
Personal Prayer
Father, thank You that justification does not come by the works of the law, but through Jesus Christ. Thank You that my standing with You is not based on my own righteousness, but on what Christ has already done for me.
When I am tempted to trust in my own effort, remind me of Your grace. When I feel condemned, remind me that my hope is in Christ alone. Help me rest in the truth of the gospel and walk in peace, not trying to earn what You have already provided by grace.
Thank You for loving me, saving me, and giving me a sure foundation in Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
